Hi, it’s me! This is she/her

Before the unprecedented event that is the COVID-19 pandemic, you would’ve found Kelly running all around New York City’s Theatre District either catching a show, or running between theatrical jobs. Nowadays, you can still find her buzzing about as an usher in house Ravenclaw, sternly telling patrons to put their mask on at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, whlist she runs there after her corporate day-job in finance

She wishes she could lie and say she spent her lockdown/quarantine days doing something artistically and creatively revolutionary, but she really was just living at home, and staying safe, to keep her grandparents alive. She did however, spend most of her time with a daily task of watching at least ONE movie a night of something she had never seen before (it’s called “research”)! It was loads of fun and got her through the darkest of days during the early months, and she has tried her best to keep that endeavor even now, which you can track on her Letterboxd account here.

Back on the subject, Kelly was raised in a diverse neighborhood to immigrant parents in Queens, New York, and attended public school with her eyes set on the creative arts. It was at 11, marathoning ABC Family’s Harry Potter weekend, quoting every line, but especially those of one Hermione Granger, that she discovered her love of film and acting (yup, movies and Harry Potter seems to be a trend here). She also wants to emphasize that although Harry Potter has been a big part of her life, she does not stand by the words of she-who-must-not-be-named (whew!)

Kelly attended Pace University and received a degree in BBA in Arts and Entertainment Management, in addition to training at Pace University’s BA in Pace Performing Arts’ Acting for the International Performance Ensemble. In between auditioning for artistic projects, Kelly has also immersed herself in the world of theater administration. She has worked for organizations such as: the American Theatre Wing, the Ambassador Theatre Group North AmericaCaparelliotis Casting and more.

She is a proud advocate for proper Asian and Asian American representation in the entertainment industry and hope to be part of that change. Recently, Kelly made her network TV debut in an episode of “FBI,” and her regional theatre debut as #13 in “The Wolves.” You can find her in many short films with a predominantly Asian/Asian American cast and crew such as the lead in “Disappear,an indie short film which was officially selected for the 42nd Asian American International Film Festival, as well as “Heartstrings,” “Portrait of Us” and “Delicates”. Her quarantine short, “Jiangshi,” made in collaboration with other Asian American artists, was a Top 10 Selection at the Asian American Film Lab’s 72 Hour Shootout! #RepresentationMatters

Every experience and role has reinforced Kelly’s love for acting and making people smile! :)
